The Family Energy Rebate helps NSW family households with dependent children to cover the costs of their energy bills.

The Family Energy Rebate provides eligible households a credit on an energy bill of $150, or $15 if the household also qualifies for the Low Income Household Rebate.


If you live in an on-supplied residential community, retirement village or strata scheme the rebate is $165, or $16.50 if the household also qualifies for the Low Income Household Rebate.


To be eligible for the NSW Family Energy Rebate, you must:

    * be a resident of New South Wales; and
    * be an account holder of an electricity retailer, or a long term resident of an on-supplied residential community, or a resident of an on-supplied retirement village, or a resident of an on-supplied strata scheme; and whose name appears on the electricity account for supply to her or his principal place of residence; and
    * have been assessed by the Federal Department of Human Services (DHS) as being eligible for the Family Tax Benefit (FTB) A or B during the previous financial year, and have received a payment of FTB in respect of that eligibility.

The Family Energy Rebate (FER) helps NSW family households with dependant children to pay their electricity bills.
In 2014-2015 the Family Energy Rebate gives eligible households a $150 credit on their electricity bill.
If you live in a residential community (caravan or mobile home park), the 2014-2015 Family Energy Rebate is $165.

To be eligible for the 2014-2015 NSW Family Energy Rebate, you must:
  • Be a NSW resident; and
  • Have been assessed by the Federal Department of Human Services (DHS) as being eligible for the Family Tax Benefit (FTB) A or B at any time during the 2013-2014 financial year, and have received an FTB payment in respect of that eligibility; and
  • Be an account holder of an electricity retailer, or a long-term resident of a residential community (caravan or mobile home park), whose name appears on the electricity account for supply to her or his principal place of residence.

How much is the Family Energy Rebate?
If you are eligible for the NSW Family Energy Rebate, you will receive the following support during these financial years:
2012-2013  = $75
2013-2014 = $125
2014-2015 = $150

Your rebate will appear as a credit on your electricity bill once, for each financial year.
When the credit appears on your electricity bill will depend on the billing cycle of your electricity retailer, after your application for the Family Energy Rebate has been approved.

The application submission deadline is Midnight 16 June 2015.

The Family Energy Rebate (FER) helps NSW family households with dependant children to pay their electricity bills.

In 2013-2014 the Family Energy Rebate gives eligible households a $125 credit on their electricity bill.

Your rebate will appear as a credit on your electricity bill once, for each financial year.

When the credit appears on your electricity bill will depend on the billing cycle of your electricity retailer, after your application for the Family Energy Rebate has been approved.


This also applies for next year which will increase to $150 if you are eligible for 2014-2015 FER.
